Montreal Airfare – How To Save Money

Cheap Montreal airfare is usually considered a myth, but I want to give you a few tips to get cheap flights to Montreal. Before we get into Montreal airfare, let me tell you a small bit about the area so that you can be better prepared.

Okay, you obviously know that Montreal is in Canada and not France, right? Even though the word Montreal derives from the French words Mont Réal it is in the province of Quebec, Canada. In fact, Montreal is the second largest city in Canada.

So why would a city in Canada have a French name? Simple. Montreal has a LOT of French speaking people and Mount Royal just happens to be there. Really, Montreal has more French speaking people than any other city west of Paris, France. Parlez-vous Français? :) If not, you might want to brush up on your French before catch a flight to Montreal, because that is the official language. You could get by with some English, but be advised.

Alright, so what is the Montreal weather forecast? My best guess: Sunny with a chance of rain. That is if you’re plotting to go in the summer. Summer time in Montreal is the wettest time of the year for the city, although its quite sunny. If you choose to go in the winter, be careful that you don’t go January because that is the coldest month of the year in Montreal. Here’s a tip: Be prepared for cooler weather than usual, because you can’t expect it to get much higher than 60 degrees there too often. No matter what the season.

Montreal is a gorgeous place and very culturally diverse. Maybe I’ll get into that some other time. You want to know how to get Montreal airfare cheap right?

Let me give you a couple of tips to follow for now, I’ll write another post in the future to give you some more direction.  Okay here we go:

    1. Glide Out of Season. Typically most people like to try to get cheap flights to Montreal in the summer, but they fail to realize that EVERYBODY and their grandma likes Montreal in the summer. I mean who can blame then. It’s very gorgeous. One of the simplest ways to glide to Montreal cheap is to just glide out of season when no one else is flying. In fact the airlines usually offer many Montreal airfare deals for people to come in the winter, because its a lot slower. Take advantage of it and go skiing like the “insiders” do. Just keep in mind you may miss out on one of the cool summer nights of jazz at the Montreal Jazz Festival. :)

    2. Book Early. I know that “should” be common sense, but the reality is that most people don’t plot ahead. If you book your flight early, even 6 – 12 months early, you could see substantial savings on your Montreal airfare. In fact, you could save as much as 60% the cost if you plot ahead. That could mean for you an extra nights stay at your favorite bed and breakfast. Montreal has some fantastic attractions, so an extra night at a bed and breakfast could get you to one more tourist spot. Don’t underestimate the value of  plotting ahead. It could mean the difference between an expensive Montreal airfare and an airfare to Montreal cheap.

Well I hope that helps you learn a small bit about Montreal and gives you a couple of quick thoughts on how to save money on airfare. I will write more in the future about Montreal airfare, deals, hotel discounts and more, but this post is starting to get a small long so it’s time to cut it small. Leave me your comments below if you have any  tips you’d like to share.

    Thanks! :)
